Dupont Circle has a local farmers market everyday from around 9am to 2pm. Where all of the DMV dairy farms, produce, chicken farms, and others get together to share the love of organic everything.
Usually people like to focus on the food, because what else would you be thinking about at a farmers market? But I think that more often the actual farmers are sort of looked over. We tend to forget how awesome they really are, and the fact that they love their job with a passion which they inadvertently pass onto their customers.
(I know the pictures are a bit tiny but you can click on them to enlarge the size) So heres a look behind the table at the workers:
All day while I was at the farmers market you could hear this jazzy background music, and I kept on thinking where are the speakers? Actually it was this guy, just thought I would give him credit where it was due.
The Farmers Market was basically on Embassy Row.
In a Pickle
There was actually a pickle company at the market, which I thought was awesome. The workers were busy restocking the pickles.
Cutting the Cheese (yes I went there, you only get so many opportunities)
Just one of the many pictures I took of this guy, and how happy he was to talk about his dairy company. Like a proud father (with awesome tattoos).
This chicken farm owber was so concentrated on her omeletes that I don’t think she even noticed I was taking pictures of her.
With a side of Shiitake
If you were wondering, these are shiitake mushrooms.
I swear these were the coolest flowers I had ever seen.
At the End of the Day
It was near the end of the day, and I’m pretty sure you can see the exhaustion on the workers faces
This guy was in charge of cutting all of the fruits and veggies for samples. I’m sure he had to go back every ten minutes, because everyone was snacking on the samples.
An Ear for Basil
Basil, and corn, and lettuce oh my! But really there was a ton of corn, and this poor guy had to put them back up every time they fell.
Sorry if it ever got a bit corn-y, I think I have a problem with puns (I should get that checked out, before something ridiculous happens).
